| আমরা সবসময় মনে রাখি | We Always Remember |​

  • যখন একজন মানুষ মারা যায়, তার সব কাজ শেষ হয়ে যায় , তিনটি ব্যতিক্রম ছাড়া: সদকা জারিয়া (চলমান দান) , এমন জ্ঞান যা থেকে উপকার পাওয়া যায়, এবং একটি সৎ সন্তান যে তার জন্য দোয়া করে । | মুহাম্মদ (সাঃ) ; হাদিস - সহিহ মুসলিম | When a person dies, his works end, except for three: ongoing charity, knowledge that is benefited from, and a righteous child who prays for him. | Prophet Mohammed (PBUH); Hadith - Sahih Muslim |

  • যে ব্যক্তি ভাল কাজের জন্য সুপারিশ করবে, তার জন্য তাতে (সাওয়াবের) অংশ আছে এবং যে মন্দ কাজের জন্য সুপারিশ করবে, তার জন্য তাতে অংশ আছে । আর আল্লাহ সব কিছুর উপর নজর রাখেন । | সূরাঃ ৪ , আন-নিসা , আয়াতঃ : ৮৫ | Whoever intercedes for a good cause will have a reward therefrom; and whoever intercedes for an evil cause will have a burden therefrom. (The Slanderer)​

Surah Al-Humazah, the 104th chapter of the Quran, was revealed in Makkah and addresses the behaviors and attitudes of certain individuals within society. The Surah specifically targets those who engage in backbiting, slander, and the accumulation of wealth while neglecting the rights of others. The name "Al-Humazah" translates to "The Backbiter" or "The Slanderer," highlighting the main focus of the Surah.

This Surah serves as a warning against the destructive nature of gossip and malicious speech, which can lead to societal discord and harm to individuals. It also emphasizes the ineffectiveness of relying on wealth for protection and status, reminding us that true security comes from righteous actions and a sincere relationship with Allah.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

  1. Woe to every slenderer and backbiter
  2. Who collects wealth and [continuously] counts it.
  3. He thinks that his wealth will make him immortal.
  4. No! He will surely be thrown into the Crusher.
  5. And what can make you know what is the Crusher?
  6. It is the fire of Allah, [eternally] fueled,
  7. Which mounts directed at the hearts.
  8. Indeed, Hellfire will be closed down upon them
  9. In extended columns.

What Allah Says​

This Surah contains 9 verses. In Surah Al-Humazah, Allah warns against the dangers of backbiting, slandering others, and being overly focused on wealth. People who engage in these behaviors often believe that their wealth will protect them or even make them immortal. But Allah reminds us that wealth can't save anyone from death or judgment. Instead, those who trust in money and treat others badly will face severe punishment. They will be thrown into "the Crusher," a place of terrible and crushing pain. This punishment is described as Allah’s eternal fire, which targets the heart and causes deep suffering. The fire is intense and never-ending, trapping them in Hell with no escape. These verses teach us to avoid arrogance and greed, treat others with kindness, and focus on good deeds rather than just gathering wealth.

Lessons​

This Surah teaches us to be careful with our words and actions, emphasizing that backbiting and slandering others are harmful behaviors. It reminds us to pay attention to how we treat others, as engaging in these negative actions and relying too much on wealth can lead us away from the right path. Instead, we should focus on developing good character and performing good deeds. In this Surah, Allah encourages us to live with integrity, humility, and kindness. It reminds us that true success comes not from material wealth but from living according to Allah’s guidance.

Reflection on the Dangers of Backbiting: Speaking badly about others not only harms them but also poisons our own hearts. This Surah reminds us to avoid gossip and slander, as these actions can lead to serious consequences in the Hereafter.

Reflection on the False Security of Wealth: Wealth can easily make us arrogant, leading us to believe that money can solve all our problems. This Surah reminds us that wealth and material possessions do not grant us safety or immortality. True security comes from our relationship with Allah and our righteous actions.

Reflection on the Reality of Hellfire: The description of "the Crusher" in this Surah serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of arrogance, greed, and mistreating others. This punishment is real, and we must work to avoid it by living righteously.

Duaa​

  • O Allah, protect me from the sin of backbiting and guide me to speak words of kindness and truth. Help me to treat others with respect and keep my heart free from negativity. Ameen.

  • O Allah, guide me to use the wealth You have blessed me with wisely. Help me to use Your blessings in ways that please You and benefit others. Protect me from the illusion that money can take the place of my faith and trust in You. Ameen.

  • O Allah, save me from the pain of Hellfire and guide me to live a life that pleases You. Help me to remember the Hereafter and always follow Your guidance. Keep me on the straight path and protect me from actions that would lead to regret. Ameen.

  • O Allah, please give me the strength to show good character and treat others with kindness. Help me to seek Your pleasure in all my actions and to be aware of how my behavior affects those around me. Ameen.

অনুবাদ (আল-বায়ান / তাইসিরুল / মুজিবুর রহমান)

পরম দয়ালু, পরম মেহেরবান, আল্লাহর নামে।

  1. দুর্ভোগ প্রত্যেকের, যে পশ্চাতে ও সম্মুখে লোকের নিন্দা করে,
  2. যে ধন-সম্পদ জমা করে আর বার বার গণনা করে,
  3. সে মনে করে যে, তার ধন-সম্পদ চিরকাল তার সাথে থাকবে,
  4. কক্ষনো না, তাকে অবশ্যই চূর্ণ-বিচূর্ণকারীর মধ্যে নিক্ষেপ করা হবে,
  5. তুমি কি জান চূর্ণ-বিচূর্ণকারী কী?
  6. তা আল্লাহর প্রজ্জ্বলিত আগুন,
  7. যা হৃদয় পর্যন্ত পৌঁছে যাবে।
  8. তা তাদেরকে চতুর্দিক থেকে পরিবেষ্টন করে রাখবে,
  9. (লেলিহান অগ্নিশিখার) উঁচু উঁচু স্তম্ভে।
